Dancer's Body Stage One

In addition to the dancing, I am toning my body.  I'm down to 219 from 231 lbs in the last month.  I want permanent gains and to change my life at the foundation level.  My goal is 210 lbs with muscle gain by October 20.  That means I will have lost approximately thirty pounds of fat and put on ten pounds of muscle.  Remember, I'm no expert at this, I'm just making estimations. I don't know how that will look exactly.  I doubt I will need to get as low as 200 lbs, I look skinny at that point and with muscle weight I think it's shape rather than weight at that point. For weightlifting (my modest yet effective routine at home) I am pushing it steadily up to the next level.  I feel just a little strain on my right elbow so I'm giving it some days of rest and icing it. I do a total of 360 repetitions 18-18 with ten difference exercises (seven standing, three reclining).  I would like to get more equipment, but just the plain dumbbells are...

Smoothing the edges

September 25 It is now week five.  I am on a schedule of two hours each 4pm to 6pm on Thursdays at the studio.  J can't make it until 5:15pm because of her work. On the other days, M/W/F  I get in at least an hour of individual practice.  Those days I have Chloe come over.  She has great technique and gets the steps right quickly.  She has a degree in theater arts and dance. However, I can hardly get her to say two words, and even those are very quiet, she's super shy.  This is no exaggeration.  Two words maximum, very softly.  I got her to say three words one time. "What did you do on Friday?" "I don't remember." Yes or no questions are with a single motion, a nod of the head.  And a diagonal nod, a tilt of the head, means maybe.  I call her my "mechanical doll".  I don't mean it in a pejorative way.  She shows up on time, every time, and by email/text she is completely commuicative. We are working on footwork. ...

The Story So Far

I started in Late August, just looking to be passable at a wedding reception.  Within a week I had accepted it as a discipline.  More to come... My instructor is Samantha Stout www.lovelivedance.com Facebook- @stoutballroomdance Instagram- @lovelivedanceslc Twitter-. @livelivedanceut I also try to use #lovelivedance when I post on Instagram and Twitter I started practicing at home, framed up and dancing with air.  This caused errors to creep into my movements as it's easier to move air that with a human partner, so I put out an ad for a "dance practice partner", just to practice with between lessons.  I had a lot of responses, but only Jacqueline really showed up for work with an enthusiasm equal to my own.
